The company

PeakFlow started on repair calls for older split systems, the kind with a twenty-year-old compressor and an air handler that has been replated twice. That equipment is common in this area and it can be economical to keep going with the right part, rather than replacing the whole system.

We keep parts for the older equipment on purpose. When a system is worth repairing, having the motor or the capacitor on the truck is the difference between a one-visit fix and a second trip.

How a service call goes

  1. 01

    Inspect

Read the complaint, look at the filter and airflow path, and check both units for physical damage.

  2. 02

    Check

Gauge the system, verify superheat and subcool, measure static pressure, and record amperage.

  3. 03

    Adjust

Clean coils, clear drains, replace filters, correct the charge, and repair any wiring fault found.

  4. 04

    Maintain

Record the readings, note the parts nearing end of life, and set the next service interval.

Homeowner notes

Change the filter on schedule

Every one to three months depending on the filter media. A clogged filter lowers airflow, which drops capacity and can freeze the evaporator coil.

Watch the drain line

Water near the indoor unit usually means the condensate drain is blocked or the pan is overflowing. It is a quick fix if caught early.

Keep the outdoor unit clear

Leave two feet of clearance around the condenser and keep leaves out of the coil. Restricted airflow on the outdoor side shows up as poor cooling.

Note unusual sounds

Rattling, hissing, or a blower that sounds different than usual is worth mentioning on the call. It often points at a specific component.

Tell us what the system is doing.

System type, symptom, and where the outdoor unit sits is enough to book the right visit.
